Puff Braid & A Lazy Bun

make your trailing puff braid...at the end, wrap your pony tail around itself and secure it with a bobby pin!

If I had more time on this day, I would have finished it off by curling the ends that are sticking out. It probably would have been a lot cuter!

Curls Anyone?

I'm SO excited about THIS new hair styling product...new to me anyway...I found these curlers through a friend of mine. She used them on her girls, and their curls turned out gorgeous. So of course I wanted to try some! They're called "Curl Formers" and you can go HERE to find them. For as much hair as my dd has, they ended up being pretty expensive for as many as we had to buy... BUT...I must say it was completely worth it! I LOVE them!!!!!

'Curlformers' come in smaller packages of 6, 8, 10 or 12 depending on the size you buy. Or you can also get them in a starter kit. That's not what we did, but I'm thinking now that we may have been better off starting with the kit??...oh well! Live and learn right?

They come in different sizes & lengths...
for varying lengths of hair & depending on how tight you want your curls to end up

You'll use a hook which looks like a giant crochet hook.

Just pinch the end of the "Curlformer' to open it
and feed the hook all the way through.

Now, with the hook facing upwards...

...place the section of hair in the hook...
...pull the hook back through the 'Curlformer'...

...Dry the hair...

('Barbie' makes a great hair model when 'K' has already left for school and I don't have anyone/anything else to demonstrate on)
...remove 'Curlformers'
and you have a perfect curl!

We did this last night after her bath
They stayed in all night

Perfect Curls!!!

All we did this morning is pick through the curls and add a headband! It doesn't get any easier!
(X-cuse the mess in the background, we're painting)!

You can actually perm with these curlers too...
I Love the end result...Did I mention that I LOVE it?
Have any of you ever used these? Let me know what you think about these cool things! Is it just me, or are these things the coolest?

Puppy Dog Ears

Yup, it turned out a little lopsided (oops) but hey, I don't claim to be perfect! :)

I thought this do turned out really cute... Yes, she loves her flaming orange hunting jacket!?????

Here's a step by step...

First section off this top section...
With this section, you will then make a triangle in front...

And another in the back...Split the front section and the back section into two pieces.
Bring one piece from both ponies to each side and secure with an elastic.
Repeat on the other side. Add ribbons or bows and off she goes!

There's a story for the following pics...

Story is..

~K~ hasn't got enough of a bum to hold up her britches. I bought her a pair of old man suspenders and we put them under her shirt so no one would see them. I thought she looked adorable and wanted to post pictures on our family blog for her grandma to check out....needless to say ~K~ was really embarrassed and didn't want any part of it. I tried to reassure her and tell her how cute she looked, but she was too self conscious to hear any of it.
This is what happened...

Same day... several hours later...hair STILL cute! :)

(No Mom!)

(No!!)

(What don't YOU understand about NO mom?)

Enough, enough I know...
Please don't call CPS on me now!

Trailing Puff Braids With Zig Zag Part

I found this one in my archives today...It's pretty simple. If you can't figure it out from the picture and would like instructions, PLEEZE don't be afraid to leave me a comment. I will explain step by step if I need to! Have a good week!

Trailing Puff Braids Into Ponies

FIRST off, you'll notice...her hair bows DO NOT match her shirt! This would be because she is 5 years old and of course 5 year olds are always spilling right? She spilled her hot cocoa on her shirt and changed...This hairdo had lasted all day long already and we weren't going out in public so we didn't change the bows... 'nuff said...

Sorry, I'm not the best photographer. I am not a lover of the exaggerated part strait down the middle of the head. Therefore, I will usually do a small section up front before making the part. Like this

Join two sections at the back to make a pony tail or you could make a messy bun...
and repeat on the other side.
It was the end of the day so these ponies are not very tight, but you get the picture!

She was mad at me for some reason...which I can't even remember...that is the reason for the camera shy behavior! Silly girl!

Another Quick 'N Easy

Starting from the front left corner of the part, we made diagonal parts all the way to the back of the hair we had sectioned off. That left a small triangular section that we pulled back in trailing elastics. Then joined the two ponies together and added ribbon

I thought I had matching elastic bands, however I ended up using a couple purple...& I didn't have the time to fix it
This look on her face???
Watching her brothers do something insanely crazy I'm sure!

BaSiC uP & dOwN dO

First you start with this cute little "down" do... Some days when it's just frigid outside, I hate to pull all of K's hair back, so we'll do something like this...
We did this for Church one week... 9am church=quickest/easiest possible... That would be why the ribbon and elastics don't match her shirt. I'm a little NUTTY about matching!

We also have those days that if you don't pull it back, it's all in the food, the boogers & anything else you can imagine. Thus combining these two hairdo's, we get this...

Very quick, VERY simple!

Boy How Time Flys

I was going through our family pictures, and came across a bunch of "K" when she was a toddler. I couldn't help myself... I had to post them and share! Where does time go??? My baby is no longer a baby!

When she was a baby, she "always" had a bow or headband in her hair.
One day while at the day care, one of the little boys about 18 mo - 2 yrs grabbed her hair bow and pulled it off... It left a bald spot poor baby! I used elmers glue to attach the hair bows because I couldn't get karo or anything else to hold it in place. The glue is actually water soluble and the bows came right out when washing her hair.

She was blessed with lots of thick curly hair!

Simple side part with piggies, I liked useing colored elastics to match the outfit she was wearing... It seemed to add to the hair do!
Notice how in EVERY picture she has a "dirty" face? That's MY girl!

I realize this isn't exactly a "do" anyone would want to try to do and wear out in public, but I loved this pic so wanted to post it anyway! :)

This picture is actually just a bunch of mini cornrolls secured with mini clips

Zig Zag part with piggies...
Again the DIRTY face!

And last but not least 3 ponies to the side

These pictures make me long for the good old days.
Time just doesn't stand still for us does it?
